Gratitude, Affirmations, and Journaling

Well hello again!  Today is the day we talk about gratitude and lists of affirmation.  I’m sure you’ve heard of those people that journal daily or write out the things they are grateful for.  You may be thinking, “What’s the point in that” or “I don’t have time for that.”  Here are how these activities can help you accomplish a positive vibe for the day!

1) Gratitude lists are pretty self-explanatory.  You just write down a list (doesn’t matter how long it is) of the things you are grateful for in your life currently. This allows you to think through the negative aspects of life and point out the good things you have going on.  This tactic is good for mental maintenance throughout life, but it’s especially good when you are going through a tough experience.

 2)  Daily affirmations are also a very great way to boost yourself up on a daily basis.  This activity, unfortunately, gets some backlash for the simple fact that some people think it is silly.  Individuals may think writing down things that you love about your self is dumb, however, it improves your mindset and self-esteem more than you know.  It is another way to show self-love.  Plus, you can keep these things as private as you want.  Nobody has to even know you are taking part in this (even though there shouldn’t be a stigma around it).  It’s like being your own personal hype man or woman!

 3) Journaling is another great way to care for yourself in this same sort of way.  Most people tend to think that they don’t have the time for it or they wouldn’t know what to write about.  However, the great thing about journaling is that it is all just for you.  You don’t need to turn this in to anybody, and once again, nobody even needs to see it.  Therefore, it can be as long or short as you’d like it to be.  Just simple thoughts that you had throughout the day will do.  This keeps you in touch with your thoughts and feelings, making them easier to evaluate.  You become more in tune with yourself and what’s going on in your body.

All of these things are just simple ways for you to start your day on a good note.  Give yourself a small portion of time when you wake up to sip on your tea or coffee and write about what’s going on with you.  It’ll get your brain working and give yourself the time it needs to think about the good in your life!
