Practicing Patience
Patience is a thing that a lot of people struggle to maintain, but it can make a tremendous difference in the way you live your life. It can lead to living a more stress free and overall happier lifestyle. There are several ways to include this into your daily life, but keep in mind that it does take time. You have to be patient to become patient. It’s funny how that works, huh?
Always keep in mind that changes don’t happen overnight. Habits take a long time to build. Therefore, if you have been living your life a certain way, it may take some time to shift that mindset. This will be the first big obstacle because, having been an impatient person myself for so long, we like to be in control and get things done efficiently. This says a lot about us as people. However, when we can be patient in situations, we feel more free simply because we do not put that pressure of time on ourselves. Yes, it is great to get things done and nobody likes waiting. However, patience will help us relieve that stress.
It is also good to think through situations. When you feel yourself starting to get impatient, think about what your purpose in feeling this way actually is. For example, majority of people get antsy waiting in line at amusement parks. But why is that? We will all get on the rides sooner or later. We all have probably waited the same amount of time. Life continues on whether we like it or not, so sometimes we just have to go with the flow. It is hard to think this way, but we need to start training our brains into this.
I truly believe that patience is a virtue, and we are taught to become impatient. We are told that if we want it we need to work for it. That’s with anything in life. These are all learned behaviors, so we just have to unlearn that. Does it take work? Yes, but you’re putting that time into your own happiness. You can be anything you want to be. You just have to be a little patient.
